Allergan Zeltiq Cooltone Body Contouring Active Magnetic Pulse (AMP) patterns are designed to warm up, tone, firm, and strengthen muscles while also providing active recovery. What Is CoolTone?
Despite the word “cool” in its name, Allergan Zeltiq Cooltone Body Contouring doesn’t freeze the fat like CoolSculpting does. Instead, it’s intended to help tone and strengthen the muscles in your body. The procedure is performed in the privacy and safety of a plastic surgery office.
The device itself looks like a box on four wheels. On top is a computer screen that allows our Medical Aesthetican to monitor and control the procedure. Attached to the box is a wand that is slowly moved along the target area of the body where the patient is trying to achieve more muscle definition.
What is Magnetic Muscle Stimulation?
Allergan Zeltiq Cooltone by Coolsculpting uses Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS) to selectively deliver strong pulses to muscle tissues in a noninvasive manner. CoolTone’s MMS technology penetrates into the muscle layers and induces involuntary muscle contractions, all in a safe and effective treatment.
How does CoolTone work?
The CoolTone applicator generates a magnetic field that creates a current when it passes through a conductive material. Muscles are good conductors of magnetic fields, unlike skin and fat, which are poor conductors. The induced current is stronger in the muscle layer and the body responds to these contractions by strengthening its muscle fibers and improving muscle conditioning akin to ab workouts . The result is stronger, firmer, and more toned abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.

Many people describe CoolTone as a warm sensation that produces intense muscle contractions, but this feeling dissipates during the first few minutes of treatment. There is no pain associated with CoolTone, and treatments typically last for about 30 minutes per session. - How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Unlike CoolSculpting, The machine isn’t a one-and-done treatment. Just as your muscle definition will fade if you stop working out for a few weeks, the machine requires maintenance! The initial treatment is usually two sessions per week for two weeks, and the frequency of your maintenance sessions afterward will be determined by your treatment plan and goals. - Are There Side Effects or Downtime?
Typical side effects following the machine include redness, swelling, tingling, and mild muscle pain or cramping. Not everyone experiences these side effects, but we do provide prescription options to help you with any discomfort that occurs.
